Natural medicine cough syrup made from onions and black radish

Pharmaceutical cough syrup doesn't have to be. Naturopathy knows effective herbs that have been used for centuries for coughing, runny nose and inflammation. The well-known book author and naturopath Adelheid Lingg shows which natural ingredients are used to produce a natural cough syrup. First, Adelheid Lingg shows how an onion cough syrup is prepared. In natural medicine, the onion is considered a natural “antibiotic”.

Natural onion cough syrup
For an onion cough syrup you need an onion, 100 grams of sugar candy, 1 teaspoon of thyme, a teaspoon of plantain and a teaspoon of yarrow. First, the onion is chopped very finely. Then simmer the onion pieces with thyme, ribwort and yarrow in about 100 milliliters of water. Stir occasionally. When the sugar candy has completely dissolved, strain everything and let it cool. Allow the onion cough syrup to melt on the tongue 3 to 5 times a day with a teaspoon.

Radish cough syrup
Because many do not like the onion taste, the variant with the black radish can also be tried. You need a black radish, brown sugar candy and knitting needles. First the lid is cut off from the radish. The black radish is hollowed out with a spoon. Now pour the sugar candy into the hollowed-out radish and place a large glass with the tip down so that there is free space under the radish. Now let everything steep and cover the radish again after about an hour. Use a knitting needle to pierce a hole from above through the rock candy to the tip of the radish. Then put the lid back on top. Now the radish cough syrup drips into the glass.

To use the radish cough syrup is placed on the tongue with a teaspoon. Let the juice melt on the tongue. This application can be carried out 3 to 5 times a day. Alternatively, the radish cough syrup can be added to a tea that has cooled to about 40 degrees. Then drink the tea. Both natural medicine cough syrups have an expectorant effect, can relieve the cough and act against inflammation. (sb)
